Animal Control Officer

The City of Aurora is seeking a responsive and animal-oriented person to fill the vacancy as its Animal Control Officer.  This is a part-time position that is responsible for various types of domestic and wild animal control within City limits.  Responsible for interpreting animal control ordinances and other clerical duties, such as preparing monthly activity reports, public posting of impoundment records, and annual license and inoculation checks.  Work is performed on an on-call basis with latitude for independent action and decision making under the guidance of the City Administrator and/or City Council.

Knowledge of the physical layout of the city is a plus.

Volunteer Firefighter

The City of Aurora is seeking a team-oriented person to fill a vacancy in its Volunteer Fire Department.  This part-time on call position is responsible for combating, extinguishing and preventing fires. Work involves training for and participating in duties of protecting life and property by firefighting and rescue operations, usually under close supervision and in difficult conditions. Considerable time is spent on drills, training, equipment operation and repair and maintenance of the fire hall.

Knowledge of the physical layout of the city is a plus, and candidates must meet department residency requirements (successful applicant does NOT have to live in City limits, but must live within defined response area).  Paid training is provided and must be completed within a reasonable time frame.
