City Council Members

The City of Aurora will have a General Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, for the following offices: 

One Mayor, 2-year term
Two Councilors, 4-year terms.

The first day for filing Affidavits of Candidacy with the City Clerk/Treasurer will be Tuesday, the 27th day of July 2021 and the last day for filing Affidavits of Candidacy for said election will be Tuesday, the 10th day of August 2021, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. July 27-August 9, 2021 and 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on August 10, 2021. There is a 
$2.00 filing fee.

Volunteer Firefighter

The City of Aurora is seeking a team-oriented person to fill a vacancy in its Volunteer Fire Department.  This part-time on call position is responsible for combating, extinguishing and preventing fires. Work involves training for and participating in duties of protecting life and property by firefighting and rescue operations, usually under close supervision and in difficult conditions. Considerable time is spent on drills, training, equipment operation and repair and maintenance of the fire hall.

Knowledge of the physical layout of the city is a plus, and candidates must meet department residency requirements (successful applicant does NOT have to live in City limits, but must live within defined response area).  Paid training is provided and must be completed within a reasonable time frame.
